The Scottish Snaggletooth Ratter

Description. 35 to 50lbs. Black and white long haired coat similar in appearance to the Scottish Border Collie. Easily distinguished from the latter by its snaggletoothed grin, a trait of the breed that has nothing to do with the British Dental Association. Able to sniff out kill and skin all types of vermin especially rats.

History

Believed to have been bred by the infamous haggis maker Duncan of Carnoustie(carn oos tee) in the mid tenth century. Duncan invented the worlds first drive through, 'McHaggis' in 1035, some 800 years before the advent of the automobile. The idea was a dismal flop and he was the ridiculed and derided by his peers especially the McDonalds.

Originally plagued by vermin he was able to redeem his business by breeding these hounds. Bred to sniff rats out from great distances, the snaggletooth loves water and muddy holes. It is said that with only three of these dogs Duncan was able to rid the town of Carnoustie of thousands of rats. The dog became popular since it was able to not only kill but to skin rats thanks to its snaggly teeth. For a short time rat skin socks were the rage. The popularity of the snaggletooth was short lived. The hound is terrified of sheep and will generally wet itself upon hearing a baaaa. Scotland is a country full of sheep hence the invention of the kilt, and having rid the land of rats it was a matter of time till the breeds popularity diminished. Today it is a rarebreed with fewer than 100 left worldwide...........
